Sminter, hot, cold, hot, cold

Summer or Winter no its Sminter!

Bit of a mixed week this week, work was interesting, I have a new supervisor and she is really focused.  I’m enjoying something different.  Shout out to my work buddies who are now aware of my blog. Bad move! now I can’t complain about work or tell the world about the miserable people I work with. Hahaha
OK before I make a career limiting move let’s talk about other things..

Like..

My eldest baby boys first full day at pre school, so much cute! He had a fantastic time and has already made some friends.  No tears when I dropped him off and he didn’t want to leave when I picked him up.  We have some paintings to put up on the fridge now.  When my son showed my husband one of his paintings, my husband began analysing it “Look how he has painted circles and stopped here then continued here with blue then purple and then he’s made this mark here” I smiled.

Surprise surprise..
I went shopping, I’m preparing for Winter, I ducked into Cotton on and bought 2 pairs of ballet flats a black pair and a khaki coloured pair. The ballet flats have a rough denim texture to them with little bows on the toes. Nice. I also picked up 2 cardis, a cream one and a navy blue one. And 2 tanks a black one and a white one.

Note to self,

Try some bright colours.

At the MAC counter I purchased a lipstick I’ve been wanting for a while. Crosswires, a lovely coral pinky lipstick I plan to wear most days. Accompanying the lipstick is a lip liner in deverlish I think that’s what it’s called.

swatch of crosswires avec lip liner deverlish?

Picked up some Hello Kitty stationery, because who doesn’t love that cute lil kitten and her kitschy femininity.  Have I mentioned I’m allergic to cats?

Oh and im all lushed out! Went to lush and purchased some porridge soap, the new its raining men shower gel, honey I washed the kids soap, marshmellow melting bath thingy, butter ball and the magic mushroom bath bubbly thing..

 smells amazing, beautiful honey!

Ohhhhh and here’s what hubby got me for V.day a geeeeorgous Royal Albert tea cup and saucer set. Beautiful.

And I made him a card.  His name isn’t Joeb its Joe, I used to call him my cherub. Then Joeb came about.

And i'll be reading this book. Lemme know if you have read any books by Nassim Taleb, I've heard he's an excellent Author.  Maybe I'll let you know

My favorite movie

Early bird

I’m writing this post at 6am, I was expecting to sleep much past 6am this morning but an eager 4 year old had to get up and start playing with his toys.  Coffee please!

Anyway, this week started off fairly mediocre but by Thursday afternoon it had gotten a whole lot better.  I signed off the week by joining some friends from work at a lovely Thai restaurant/bar in the city we had Thai Sangria and spring roles, it was beyond lovely! Best Sangria! It wasn’t traditional Sangria with a red wine base; it was a zesty fruity blend with a rose (rosay) base, accompanied with lychees and grapefruit. Take me there now! Yes at 6am.

Wish I took photos.  Just believe me it was the ultimate Sangria.

I had the back of my hair trimmed on Tuesday afternoon, as I was developing a really fantastic mullet and even though I promised myself I wouldn’t even get a trim untill March this infant mullet had to go… at least my hair is starting to be all one length, and soon I will be able to just let it grow and not think about it too much.

Umm.. also.. I went to MAC and purchased 2 items out of the new Peacocky collection.  The new kissable lip colour in Scandelicious and the new mega metal shadow in Sexpectations . The lip colour is a true fushcia creamy gloss lip colour.  It applies like a gloss but its pigment is more like a lipstick. The eye shadow is a redy - plumb – metallic shadow with great transfer and the size and amount of the eye shadow exceed the regular mac shadows.

swatches of the Mega metallic shadow in sexpectations and kissable lip colour in Scandelicious

AAAAaaannnd. I picked up the Kaparti travel pack shampoo, conditioner and hair spray. Kaparti is a 98% natural/organic hair care range.  I can’t remember if they claim to be organic or natural, anyway the shampoo and conditioner contain no sulphates and a lot of recogonisable organic ingredients.
Oh and some 'oh so very soft' wotnot facial wipes, such a good product these wipes are so soft and are eco friendly - bio degradable and organic.

Love and blintzes ya’ll

Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination - Oscar Wilde

Thought I’d share with you some recent purchases, I was in desperate need of a new handbag my old one the stitching was coming loose and the stitching on the inside was coming undone. Derelictttt!
Anywho I came across this lil Toni Bianco number in Strandbags, it was $39.95 reduced from $100. So I got out the old eftpos card and drained my saving account a lil bit

Nice huh.  I need a handbag that is sophisticated enough to take to work as well as being able to fit nappies, wipes and the usual child rearing equipment.  This handbag is capable of doing both.  Yesss!!
I also picked up these cheapie flats from K-mart at $5 a piece!!! The photo doesn’t really  show all the detail, but the black pair has a snake skin pattern and the beige pair is a very shiny patent material with cute rouching at the toe.  Purty!

And down the beauty Isle I snagged some real bargains.  K-mart was having a price blitz on their Nail range, brands including Sally Hansen, Nailene and California nails.  I bought Sally Hansen’s lip inflation lip plumping gloss (which I’ve heard good things about) and Sally Hansen’s thin lip Collagen boost.  $7 each HOLY COW!

Oh and a packet of Fingrs, Flirt stick on nails in French polish - $4 - don’t need to justify that purchase.  Oh and this $2 smudging brush, again no need to justify that purchase.

Lastly I ducked into Bras n things to pick up a new bra; the one I purchased is called "crème shaper" from the Ultimate body range.  I love the material and the way it feels against my skin, silky soft.  OOOoo and 2 pairs of lovely lacey knickers.. I’m feeling a tad bit burlesque

I need all the padding I can get

I’m thinking about what clothes I need to buy in order to be ready for Winter.  I think I’ll invest in a really good quality winter coat, some nice winter boots but just stick with the reliable skinny jeans, leggings, ballet flats, long cardi look.   I’d love to keep up with what’s in fashion and be that trendy person but what’s in fashion at the moment (what I perceive to be in fashion) isn't practical for me.  Can you imagine me trotting around in a pair of designer platform pumps chasing a 2 year old who’s got himself covered in sticky?
Here’s a challenge for me: To identify some trendy winter clothes and shoes that are also practical and affordable.  Can you suggest anything?

Yup I’m all ready thinking about Winter/Autumn.  It’s coming soon and it stays around an awfully long time.

2010 Favorites

2010 Favorites.

I’ve always wanted to do a “favorites” post and it’s still quite early in the year so I think a 2010 favorites is still appropriate.. enough rambling and I’ll get right into it

Favorite Shampoo: De Lorenzo purple toning shampoo, by far the best purple toning shampoo I’ve ever bought
Favorite Conditioner: Redken all soft. Good results amazing smell
Favorite hair treatment product: Moroccan oil the original one in the blue bottle. Since my hair is short I don’t use a great deal of the oil, but I gotta say it leaves my hair the softest I’ve ever felt it. It is rather exy but one bottle has last me 11 months.
Favorite styling product: PPS styling soft wax (comes in a white jar with a green lid) oh my, this is a great product, It holds really well with nice shine and not wet looking.
Favorite cleanser: Environ gel cleanser
Favorite makeup remover: Clinique take the day off for lids, lashes and lips.  I really like this product, it removes my makeup so well without leaving my skin feeling dry and tight.
Favorite night moisturiser: Environ AVST Vitamin A moisturiser. The environ range is responsible for a huge change in my skin. My skin used to have a lot more black heads and it looked really dull. Environ has turned this around for me.
Favorite day moisturiser: Dermaviduals my special blend.  My beautician mixes up a special blend of oils in my moisturiser, expensive but it’s my face.
Favorite Sunscreen: Clinique City Block oil free SPF 30.
Favorite serum: my own concoction of Vitanim E and rosehip oil
Favorite face mask: I rely on my beautician for face masks, I go every 4 weeks for a full facial.
